A delivery rider shared his experience when he delivered food to Flying Titans volleyball player Deanna Wong.
Wong received criticisms last year after videos circulated on social media showing her allegedly ignoring her fans.
However, according to delivery rider Eduardo Batara Jr., his experience meeting Wong was too far from the accusations that the volleyball player was receiving.
“For me mukhang mabait naman siya. Ewan ko na lang sa iba. Noong na-pick up ko ‘yung booking, akala ko nagkamali lang ako sa basa ng pangalan, noong tinanong ko ‘yung nagpadala kung ‘yung volleyball player iyung mag-receive ayaw pa sabihin pero nang pagdating ko sa drop off area, nagulat na lang ako nang makita ko na siya nag-receive sa padala,” Batara Jr. told Balita Online.
It can be that the issue against Wong started when her team who was arriving at Boracay Island didn’t greet the fans who approached them.
The volleyball team, especially Wong received criticism on social media and from celebrities like Kuya Kim Atienza.
Flying Titans then released a statement denying that they’re badly treating their fans.
“The Team’s fans know how warm, respectful, appreciative, and accommodating the ladies are. While we acknowledge that our team could have handled that particular encounter in the video better, we denounce malicious posts that put our players, our team, and our company in a bad light. Posting these innuendoes only brings negativity to our volleyball community and put the wellbeing of our athletes at risk,” they said.
Wong didn’t release any statement about the issue.
