Singer Kris Lawrence bravely defended his friend Alex Gonzaga from the criticisms the after actress was caught smearing a cake to their waiter during her birthday party.

In a series of social media comments, Kris believed that the waiter identified as ‘Allan’ received the ‘most recognition he ever got’ after being smeared by Alex’s cake.

Kris also said that the waiter might be grateful that the issue had gone viral.

“People always have something negative to say. Let’s fast forward and after this event, the waiter just went viral, will probably get ‘something’ after, and a LOT of sympathy. Most recognition he ever got as a waiter. So after all the noise. I’m sure he will be grateful that this happened. Looks like people just like to extract the negative out of things instead of the positive,” Lawrence said.

 

In another comment, he even questioned why people were criticizing the actions of Alex, saying that smearing cake during birthday parties were normal.

“So now putting cake on someone’s face at parties is demonized? I thought that was normal. You will guys never put cake on anyone’s face on a birthday?” he asked.

The comments of Lawrence received criticisms from the netizens, calling the singer’s statement as ‘out-of-touch’.

“So utang na loob at dapat ipagpasalamat pa ata ni Kuya Allan ang nangyari sa kaniyang kahihiyan sa kamay ni malditang Alex Gonzaga. Ayon iyan sa bibliya ni Kris Lawrence.” netizen @supernegatrona said.
