Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda gave an update about the condition of his friend and their guitarist Gab Chee Kee.

In his Facebook post, Chito announced that Gab was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2022.

According to the vocalist, Gab still decided to continue playing for Parokya despite being diagnosed already, but now he decided to rest for now to follow the advice of the doctors.

 

At first, Chito opposed the idea of still continuing their gigs without Gab, but the guitarist urged them to carry on with their plans.

“Gabriel was diagnosed with lymphoma late last year, and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past few months. Despite his situation, he was relatively doing ok, and thought it would be best not to let everyone know what he was going through, because he didn’t want anyone worrying about him. So he continued playing with Parokya.” Chito said.

“But soon after, he was advised by his doctor not to play gigs muna para makapag-pahinga. I asked my bandmates na kung pwede, wag nalang din muna kami tumugtog habang wala si Gab. Pero kina-usap kami ni Gab and asked us to continue playing, because he doesn’t want us to stop playing just because we’re waiting for him to get better.” he added.

Chito also shared that Gab’s condition already developed complications and was already brought to Intensive Care Unit.

“Unfortunately, due to complications brought about by his condition, he is now battling pneumonia and was recently transferred sa ICU and has been intubated for more than a week already. He was financially prepared naman for the chemotherapy…but now, his family needs help with the overwhelming hospital bills.” he said.

Because of the current condition of his friend, the legendary vocalist set up fundraising to help Gab with his bills by doing gigs with other OPM artists like Kamikazee, Gloc 9, Shanti Dope, Flow G, Grace Note, December Ave, POT, Moonstar 88 and Mora dela Torre.

“Parokya and our friends from music scene will be doing a series of fundraising gigs to help Gab out…most of which won’t even be announced as fundraisers. Tahimik lang sila na tutulong.” he said.

Gab was with the Parokya ni Edgar since the start and he also wrote and sang one of their popular songs ‘Your Song’ also known as ‘One and Only You’.
