Actress Carmi Martin couldn’t hide her disappointment after her friend former Quezon City second district councilor Roderick Paulate was convicted by the court for allegedly hiring ghost employees during his term.

Two weeks ago, the court sentenced Paulate to up to 62 years in prison after they found that some of the employees he allegedly hired didn’t really exist.

In an interview, Martin said that she tried to contact Paulate and she was only told by the comedian that he believes in ‘prayers’.

She even believed that it was possible that Paulate was also a victim.

Martin also questioned why they’re targeting Paulate while there are more big politicians out there that allegedly doing illegal activities.

I really don’t know what happened.” the actress stated.

“Kaya lang, yung sa akin… I feel that nabiktima siya, and mas maraming big fish diyan, bakit hindi iyon ang unahin?” she added.

Aside from the actress, other showbiz personalities like Cristy Fermin also defended Paulate saying that he’s a good man.

Paulate has yet to release any official statement over the judgment against him.
