Suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag talked for the first time after getting charged for his alleged involvement in Percy Lapid case.
In an interview, Bantag urged his boss, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Boying Remulla to resign because according to him, it’s what the public wanted.
Bantag claimed that Remulla was trying to condition the mind of the public to pin him as the mastermind to silence the radioman who’s a known critic of the general.
“Yan ang sabi ng taumbayan, step down Mr. Secretary dahil wala na kayong credibility,” Bantag said.
“Alam ng tao ‘yan kung ano ang ginagawa niyo, kino-condition niyo ang isip ng tao para ituro ako.. Gawain ba ‘yan ng secretary of justice?” he added.
The suspended BuCor chief also mentioned the case being faced by the Justice Secretary’s son Juanito Jose Remulla III.
He believed that should Remulla had already resigned since his son got involved in illegal activities.
“Samantalang ang anak mo, ang daming comment ng tao.. As secretary of Justice tapos involve ‘yung anak mo (sa illegal activities) dapat step down ka na e,” he said.
Bantag suspected that Remulla was just trying to make himself popular because of the latter’s ambition to run for the senate in 2025.
As of writing, Remulla has yet to give any comment on Bantag’s accusations.
In the interview, he also explained his side to prove that he’s not the one who ordered to silence Lapid.
