Privacy Commission, sinabing walang nilabag sa Data Privacy Act ang piloto na nag-post tungkol kay VP Leni

Nilinaw ng National Privacy Commission o NPC na walang nilabag sa Data Privacy Act of 2012 ang piloto na si Capt. Van Ranoa na nag-post tungkol sa diumano’y paghingi ng priority landing ni Vice President Leni Robredo na naging dahilan upang maantala ang biyahe ng ilang eroplano.

Matatandaan na nitong May 16 ay naglabas ng pahayag ang Cebu Pacific kung saan ay sinabi na nasa ‘disciplinary review’ na ang nasabing piloto dahil sa kanyang ibinahaging post tungkol kay Robredo.

Habang sinabi ng airline company na nirerespeto nila ang freedom of speech and expression ng kanilang mga piloto ay saklaw parin sila ng “Data Privacy Act of 2012” at “Code of Discipline”.

“We also have a robust Social Media Policy which has clear guidelines on how our employees should behave on social media because they are stewards of our brand and everything that we value as a company,” sabi ng kumpanya.

“Sensitive company information and operational details must not be disclosed publicly – even when factual and more so, if erroneous to prevent the spread of disinformation,” dagdag pa nila.

Ngunit ayon sa NPC, wala silang nakitang paglabag sa ginawa ng piloto.

“Based on our preliminary assessment on the post made by the pilot of Cebu Pac on Facebook, we find that there is no disclosure of personal data giving rise to a violation of the Data Privacy Act of 2012,” sabi ng NPC.

Samantala ay ilang Kakampinks, kasama na si Edu Manzano ang binabalak na i-boycott ang nasabing airlines hangga’t hindi nila inaalis o sinususpinde ang nasabing piloto.
