Handang tumakbo bilang Pangulo sa 2022 si dating Senador Antonio Trillanes IV kung sakali man na hindi na maghangad si Vice President Leni Robredo na abutin ang pinakamataas na posisyon sa gobyerno.

Sa isang panayam, binunyag ni Trillanes na nakausap niya na ang mga miyembro ng 1Sambayan at pinag usapan nila ang posibleng pagiging alternatibo niya kay Robredo.

“I qualified at the start of the interview. I said that the opposition is solidly behind and united behind the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo for President. So, any scenario of the Vice President withdrawing her candidacy is the only condition that I’d entertain entering the presidential derby,” ani Trillanes.

Ngunit naniniwala siya na mas karapat dapat parin si Robredo na maging kandidato ng oposisyon sa susunod na halalan.

“In terms of qualification, definitely she’s highly qualified and we believed she’s the most winnable candidate in the opposition,” kumpiyansa niyang sabi.

“That’s why we are pushing her [and] we are assuring her we would be with her in this fight for the presidency in 2022.” dagdag niya pa.

Isa si Trillanes sa mga pinaka aktibong kritiko ng kasalukuyang administrasyon.

Inaasahan na papasok muli sa politika si Trillanes, ngunit hindi pa malaman kung sa anong posisyon.
