A veteran journalist claimed that Makabayan Bloc was being eyed to be removed from the list of accredited party-list in the Philippines amid the accusations that the said groups were connected to the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and New People’s Army (NPA).

In a Facebook post, journalist Jay Sonza said that parties like Bayan Muna, Gabriela, Anakbayan, Kabataan, Alliance of Concern Teachers, Migrante, and others may get barred from the future elections.

According to Sonza, the CPP founder Jose Maria Sison already admitted that the said organizations were connected to their group.

“I have a strong feeling that the Makabayan Bloc members (Bayan Muna, Gabriela, Anakbayan, Kabataan, Alliance of Concern(ed) Teachers, etc) will be deleted from the Comelec accredited partylists,” Sonza said.

“This is based on the admission of Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Ma. Sison that they are indeed front organizations of CPP,” he added.

He even said that there’s already some actions being done to prevent the said party list from participating in the elections again.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has yet to confirm if there’s such action exist against Makabayan.

Makabayan bloc has been accused several times by the military and police of being connected to the NPA.

Even Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy challenged sa current representatives of Makabayan in the Congress to criticize the activities of NPA to prove that they’re not connected to the said organization.
